Biography My name is Abigail Molina-Chavez. I found my passion for interpreting while working as founding office manager for a Denver Charter School network located in Southwest Denver, where the majority of students are Hispanic, and therefore have Spanish speaking parents. I was one of three staff members who spoke the language, and being the first face that parents saw, I was in a position to interpret for families and help with translations. After translating and interpreting as part of my job for a year, I decided to pursue an education in the field and acquire the necessary skills to become a professional interpreter. I enrolled in the Community College of Aurora Interpretation and Translation Certificate program in 2016, and are expected to graduate from such program December 2018. I currently work as the Student Language Services Coordinator for the Aurora Public Schools, in which some of my main roles, are to oversee, schedule, and train interpreters (Spanish and Multilingual interpreters) to ensure we are providing qualified and skilled interpreters for our families. I currently volunteer for Impacto De Fe church as an interpreter for their services every Sunday. There, I also oversee and train other volunteers who have shown interest in interpretation.
