What is CAPI?

The Colorado Association of Professional Interpreters is dedicated to supporting interpreters’ professional needs as well as to promoting the recognition of all facets of interpreting in our community. Membership is open to anyone. CAPI is a Colorado not-for-profit organization that was formed in 2001.

Objectives

CAPI’s objectives also include providing or promoting training for interpreters; supporting standards of professional ethics, practices, and competence; fomenting communication with interpreters about professional issues; acting as a resource on interpreting for persons in allied professions and related organizations; to promote collegial relations among our members.

These objectives are met through many endeavors, including a professional newsletter (“Captions” is available on this site); periodic meetings and social events; interpreting workshops and conferences; collaboration with other entities interested in interpreter training or other pertinent issues; and recognition of individuals who have contributed to the profession.
